[ARCHIVED] Give Back & Save Money at the Holiday Festival of Lights!

With over two million shimmering lights, the Holiday Festival of Lights is preparing to make spirits bright nightly from Nov. 14 through Jan. 1 at James Island County Park. What’s your best bet to get the most out of the festival this year? Come Monday through Thursday, and bring a canned food item!

For many years, the Holiday Festival of Lights has collected non-perishable canned food items at the festival gate for donation to the Lowcountry Food Bank. Canned or non-perishable dog or cat food items are also being accepted for donation. On Monday through Thursday, festival-goers who bring a non-perishable canned food item for donation will save $5 off their vehicle admission fee (of up to 15 passengers). Not to mention, these nights traditionally experience less traffic, so you’ll save on time as well.

Not only will donating save visitors money, but it will also help support those in need this holiday season. Last year at the festival was a jaw-dropping record-breaking year for donations to the Lowcountry Food Bank. Over 15,000 pounds of food were donated which equated to an estimated 12,648 meals. This year, in honor of the festival’s 25th anniversary, event organizers with the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission have set a goal of collecting 25,000 pounds of canned food items.
