Accessibility in the Park

Folly Beach County Park

The Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission invites people with disabilities to experience our programs, services, trails and facilities to discover how our 11,000+ acres of parkland can enrich their lives. We strive to go beyond compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide opportunities for recreation, physical and emotional well-being, and peaceful respite.

At Folly Beach County Park, you'll find these accessibility highlights:

  • Accessible parking
  • Accessible route to natural sand beach
  • Accessible ramp to park office at Dunes House
  • Accessible restrooms and water fountains
  • Accessible outdoor changing rooms
  • Accessible picnic tables at Dunes House
  • Standard beach wheelchairs available for check-out at park office on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the standard beach wheelchairs, an off-road wheelchair will be available for reservation during our busy season (spring and summer) thanks to the generosity of Waymaker Offroad Wheelchairs. Based in Hartsville, SC, Waymaker Offroad Wheelchairs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with mobility impairments enjoy outdoor experiences with independence.
