Adventure Camp
Ages 10-12
Adventure Camp for ages 10-12 provides excellent opportunities to experience the rewards of outdoor life. All programs include involvement in primary activities to provide a consistent focus on team building, skills, and environmental awareness. Our accessory programs provide even more opportunities each week for our campers to learn and have fun by adding variety to every program. In order to maintain a fun and healthy atmosphere for all our campers, emotional and physical safety is our top priority. All equipment is provided.

If you’d rather register by phone, you must complete an activity waiver online before calling to register. The call agent is unable to sign a waiver for you and will not be able to register you without one.
James Island County Park
Stand-Up Paddleboarding Tour & Rock Climbing

Campers will experience this historic Pacific Island craft on the lake at James Island County Park. They will learn how to paddle properly and be introduced to simple rescue techniques and safety protocols from a trained instructor through on-water games and activities. The adventure concludes with a SUP trip through one of Charleston's beautiful marshlands and area waterways. Campers will then be guided through the basics of knot tying, belaying, and climbing techniques. Climbers will utilize the auto-belay wall as a first step in developing comfort and technique before tackling James Island County Park's famous 50-ft outdoor climbing wall.

Young cyclists will be introduced to the proper handling and maintenance of a mountain bike. We will practice safe riding techniques, initially, on the flat trails around James Island County Park. We'll then utilize our new knowledge and skills to ride some of Charleston's local trail systems. Campers will also learn the art of canoeing by practicing paddling techniques through fun games and instruction. Campers will learn about communication and cooperation in order to navigate their tandem canoes and will also practice rescue techniques.

Archery & Stand-Up Paddleboarding

Bring out your inner Robin Hood (or Hawkeye)! Campers will learn about the age-old tradition of competition archery. Through active participation, archers will learn terminology, technique, and additional characteristics and practices necessary for successful target shooting culminating with a visit to the Johns Island County Park 3-D Archery Range. Campers will also get to know the historic Pacific Island craft known as standup paddleboard. They will learn how to paddle properly and be introduced to simple rescue techniques and safety protocols from a trained instructor through on-water games and activities.
Canoeing & High Challenge Course

This course will introduce participants to the art of canoeing by practicing paddling techniques through fun games and instruction. Campers will learn about communication and cooperation in order to navigate their tandem canoes and will also practice rescue techniques. Lastly, a day trip to the beautiful tannin-rich blackwater of the Edisto River will put our skills to the test. Campers will also have the opportunity to be 25-35 feet in the air working together to solve challenging problems on the High Course. Educational development and social interaction are both parts of the thrill!

You can do it - stick that move on the 5.10c! We're going to learn some terminology, strap on our harnesses and do some rock climbing! Campers will be guided through the basics of knot tying, belaying, and climbing techniques by trained staff. Climbers can utilize the more accessible "portable" wall as a first step in developing comfort and technique before tackling James Island County Park's famous 50-ft. outdoor climbing wall. Our day trip experience will be at the park where we will have the opportunity to participate in other high adventure challenges like crate climbs, leap of faith, and a rappelling experience. Campers will also learn basics about fishing including the purposes behind the activity, biological processes, and conservation. Fledgling anglers will be taken to a local county fishing pier to get a taste of the saltwater action.

Climbers will utilize the auto-belay wall as a first step in developing comfort and technique before tackling James Island County Park's famous 50-ft. outdoor climbing wall.
