On the west end of the island, situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Folly River, beachgoers will find Folly Beach County Park. Skimmer Flats, a major Eastern Brown Pelican rookery, is visible at the west end of the park.

- Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day
Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. from May 1 to September 30. At all other times they must be leashed and under control.

- Weekends only: May 1 – June 20 (including Memorial Day, May 31)
- Daily: June 21 – mid-August

Gold pass members park for free year-round.

Due to limited parking, visitors are encouraged to arrive early, carpool when possible, and expect delays when entering the park. Groups using the Pelican Watch Pavilion are not permitted to bypass the line and must follow all traffic laws and direction from park management.
Chair/Umbrella Rentals
- Beach chair: $10 per day
- Beach umbrella: $15 per day
- Two chairs & one umbrella: $30 per day
