Due to severe weather this evening, Special Needs Swim Night will take place next Saturday, June 28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.!
Whirlin’ Waters and your Charleston County Parks welcome people with special needs, their families, caregivers and friends to a unique night at the waterpark! On Saturday, June 21, Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark will open its gates in the evening for these guests to enjoy.
Special Needs Swim Night will take place after the waterpark is closed to the general public, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. A welcoming social will take place beginning at 6 p.m. as the daytime patrons leave, featuring an exciting guest appearance. Whirlin’ Waters’ water attractions will then reopen at 6:30 and be available until 8:30 p.m.
Located in North Charleston at Wannamaker County Park, Whirlin’ Waters is the largest waterpark in the Charleston area and offers attractions for all ages. Whirlin’ Waters is home to Otter Bay kiddie pool area, The Big Splash Tree House, Lily Pad Lagoon toddler play area, Rollin’ River lazy river, the large Big Kahuna pool, Tubular Twister slide complex, and the 347-foot-tall Riptide Run racer slide. Some attractions have minimum height restrictions to participate.
Lifeguards will be on duty throughout the evening. Admission to Special Swim Night is $9 per person attending. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the waterpark. Other events hosted by the Charleston County Parks for people with special needs include an upcoming Kentucky Derby-themed party at Wannamaker County Park on June 26, and the Special Needs Prom, which will take place in August 22 at Bees Landing Recreation Center.
