[JAMES ISLAND] – Formerly open only for groups, James Island County Park’s Odyssey Challenge Course is now open to the general public every Friday this summer, now through Aug. 16! Individuals and small groups are invited to come experience the thrill and challenge of this dynamic structure without having to make a reservation.

This exciting high course, called The Odyssey, features eight mentally and physically challenging elements and two 230-foot long exit ziplines. Teams of 3-6 participants travel together through the course, engaging in exciting challenges, fun team-building and shared learning experiences, ranging from walking along a cable to climbing a net and flying down a zipline.

Open Days at the Challenge Course will take place every Friday (weather permitting) now through August 16 from 3-7 p.m. Fees are just $12 per person ($10 discount available for Charleston County residents). The Challenge Course is open for ages 10 and up, but registered and paid chaperones must be on site for ages 17 and under.

After climbing an inclined cargo net into the first level, groups will reach a tree house structure. There, the group enters a series of linear course events using overhead safety cables to cross onto the next tree house. After making that journey, individuals exit the course on one of two zip lines.
The Challenge Course offers a unique experience designed to energize people and encourage them to explore their capabilities through the “learning by doing” approach. Each dynamic activity encountered on the course focuses on developing different skill areas in each participant, including leadership, communication, problem solving, trust, and many others.
