The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commisssion (CCPRC) invites the public to attend a meeting on the future downtown Charleston skate park. The meeting will take place at Edisto Hall within James Island County Park on Sept. 12 beginning at 6 p.m.
Two separate sessions will be held as part of the meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at James Island County Park’s Edisto Hall. A general public meeting will begin at 6 p.m., and a design workshop will follow at 7 p.m.
Doors will open to the public at 5:45 p.m. for individuals who wish to preview conceptual park site plans prior to the meeting.
The 6 p.m. general public meeting will consist of a brief presentation about the skate park, followed by a public comment and question/answer period. This first hour will provide the general public with the opportunity to learn about the upcoming park and to offer input.
At 7 p.m., a design input workshop or “charette” will begin for those interested in the active features of the park. Representatives from Team Pain, the consulting firm providing the design of the “skate-able” surfaces, will be on hand to review concepts and to hear additional ideas from the public.
The general public is invited to attend the 6 p.m. meeting, and any party interested in the details of the active area of the park is invited to stay for the 7 p.m. workshop.
