Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation's official Park and Recreation Month. This July, the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission is encouraging families throughout the Lowcountry to GET WILD about parks and recreation! Here is a showcase of some super wild programs at your county parks - everything from wild workouts and wellness to getting wet and wild at the waterparks or even getting wild with nature! For further details about any event or program, call 843-795-4386 or visit www.ccprc.com.

Get Wild with Climbing!
Climbing 101
Expand your horizons vertically at the 50-foot Climbing Wall at James Island County Park - the Lowcountry's tallest outdoor climbing facility. Climbing 101 is designed to introduce you to the world of climbing. July 7.

Get Wild with Nature & History!
Caw Caw Stomp
Discover what it takes for plants and animals to survive at Caw Caw. We'll explore and compare different habitats and take a water sample back to the lab for further investigation. There will be parallel sessions for kids ages 4-6 and 7-10, so bring the whole family. July 12 at Caw Caw Interpretive Center.

Nocturnal Noisemakers
Have you ever wondered about noises in the night? Come with us and figure some of them out. Listen for owls, frogs, and others, and shine some gators and spiders along the way. July 19 at Caw Caw Interpretive Center.

Get Wild with Free Events!
Movies at the Pier
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a FREE movie under the stars! Come on out and have a movie night on us on the Great Lawn at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. July 20 at the Mount Pleasant Pier

Get Wild with Paddle Sports!
Folly River Marsh SUP Tour
Let's go paddleboarding through the salt marshes behind Folly Island. You may have done this trip in a kayak, but the stand up view and the chance to use some different muscles makes this a brand new experience. July 8 at the Folly River Boat Landing.

ACA Introduction to Kayaking - Level 1
This entry-level course will teach you basic strokes, techniques, and safety, so you can have fun on the water for years to come! July 14 or July 22 at James Island County Park.

Remley's Point to Shem Creek Kayak Trip
Departing from Remley's Point, we'll paddle under the Ravenel Bridge and past the mighty USS Yorktown. Along the way, we'll see the harbor from a dolphin's point of view. We'll finish up at Shem Creek in time for some post-trip entertainment. July 21.

Get Wild on the Fourth!
Dance to live beach music from Permanent Vacation at the perfect event for celebrating our independence - Uncle Sam Jam! Come on out to our very own party at the end of the Mount Pleasant Pier, and you'll get wild with music, cold beverages, and good food! The pier also happens to be a great spot to watch the area's best fireworks displays! July 4 at the Mount Pleasant Pier.

Get Wild at Your Waterparks!
Get soaked this summer at your Charleston County Waterparks! Your three family waterparks are the coolest spots in town during the summer months, and each facility offers fun, family adventure.

Get Wild Tri-Style!
If you think you're up to it, get wild during the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series. Each race begins with a 600-yard freshwater swim in the lake at James Island County Park, continues with a 12-mile bike ride through the park and out and back on Riverland Drive, and finishes with a flat 5K run.
