Da’Gullah Rootz at James Island’s Reggae Concert Series June 30

CHARLESTON – The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission continues the 2012 Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series on Saturday, June 30 at James Island County Park. Gates open at 8:00 p.m. and popular local reggae band Da’ Gullah Rootz will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Charleston-based Da’ Gullah Rootz has a ten-year history of creating eclectic and diverse melodies intermingling a variety of reggae styles, including Ska and Dancehall. For the perfect cool ending to a hot summer day, bring your chair or blanket, kick back, and relax to an outdoor reggae concert in the beautiful outdoor setting of one of your county parks. All ages are invited and children 12 and under, as well as Gold Pass holders, enjoy free admission to all events in the concert series. Hungry concert-goers can purchase Caribbean-style dishes, pizza and other festival foods at the event. Crafters and other vendors will be on site displaying handmade crafts and souvenirs available for purchase. Additional reggae concerts will take place throughout the summer at James Island County Park.

The 2012 Reggae Concert Series schedule is:
• June 30: Da'Gullah Rootz
• July 21: Mystic Vibrations
• August 18: ReggaeInfinity

Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Tickets are $8 for adults (13 and up); children 12 and under are free. Annual Gold Passes will be honored. Please, no outside alcohol or coolers.
