[ARCHIVED] Parklands Foundation holding sunset cruise Sept. 30 to raise funds for the Pass It Forward Project

[CHARLESTON COUNTY] – The non-profit partner of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), The Parklands Foundation, will host a sunset cruise on Sept. 30 in an effort to raise funds for its projects, including the Pass It Forward Project.

Boarding will begin in Shem Creek starting at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, with a cruise aboard the Palmetto Breeze taking place from 5 – 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes beer, wine and hors d’oeurves. The event is for ages 21 and up only. Tickets for the sunset cruise are available at TheParklandsFoundation.org.

The vision of The Parklands Foundation of Charleston County is to identify, develop and sustain projects that actively encourage people to experience CCPRC’s facilities, programs and services for the benefit of living a healthier and safer lifestyle.

A nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization, The Parklands Foundation was created in May 1990 by CCPRC to generate funding for the continued growth and development of the county park system, and to support increased leisure opportunities for residents. The Pass It Forward Project identifies barriers in accessing park facilities, programs and services and facilitates the collection of donations and goods, and passes those resources on to members of the community in need. A number of people in the Lowcountry encounter challenges in gaining access to Charleston County Parks’ programs and events. Challenges can range from lack of transportation to financial means to participate. The Pass It Forward Project provides opportunities for the community to access park facilities, programs and services throughout Charleston County Parks.
