[ARCHIVED] Shaggin’ on the Cooper series continues Aug. 11 with Vinyl Daze

Shaggin on the Cooper

[MOUNT PLEASANT] – Nothing says summer like listening to beach music and dancing the night away on the Mount Pleasant Pier. The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s (CCPRC) popular Shaggin’ on the Cooper series hosts its second-to-last event of the season on Saturday, Aug. 11, featuring live music by Vinyl Daze.

Vinyl Daze is a Charleston-based party band that covers a variety of shag and dance music sure to keep folks on the Mount Pleasant Pier dancing throughout the evening.

As summer settles on the South, these music and dance events will be held monthly at the Mount Pleasant Pier (see schedule below). Spend evenings on the pier with a date or head out to meet new friends, kick back and relax while taking in the fresh air and fun atmosphere. Gates open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m. Shaggin’ on the Cooper is open to all ages; participants ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Shaggin’ on the Cooper is held at the foot of the 1250-foot-long Mount Pleasant Pier, located next to the Memorial Waterfront Park. The pier is the perfect spot to catch cool breezes, beautiful scenery, and views of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. Beverages are available for purchase on site, and food is available for sale at the Mount Pleasant Pier’s River Watch Café. Food and beverages are not included in ticket prices.

Advance tickets to Shaggin’ on the Cooper are $8 per person. Space is limited, so advance purchase is recommended. If available, tickets sold on site are $10. To purchase tickets, visit or call 843-795-4386.

2018 Shaggin’ on the Cooper Schedule:

  • August 11 – Shaggin’ on the Cooper with Vinyl Daze
  • September 8 – Shaggin’ on the Cooper with Recollections

Shaggin’ on the Cooper is brought to you by Dasani and your Charleston County Parks.
