[MOUNT PLEASANT] – Nothing says summer like listening to beach music and dancing the night away on the Mount Pleasant Pier. The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s (CCPRC) popular Shaggin’ on the Cooper series, and its 21-and-up only partner event Friday Night Boogie, are back in June.
On June 9, Shaggin’ on the Cooper will feature live music from The Coppertones. The event will be preceded by Friday Night Boogie on June 8 featuring DJ Jim Bowers.
The Coppertones is a five-member, Charleston-based band that has been together since 2003. The group performs a variety of hits including shag and beach music.
As summer settles on the South, these music and dance events will be held monthly at the Mount Pleasant Pier (see schedule below). Spend summer nights on the pier with a date or head out to meet new friends, kick back and relax while taking in the fresh air and fun atmosphere. Gates for both events open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m. Shaggin’ on the Cooper is open to all ages (participants 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult), and Friday Night Boogie guests must be age 21 or older.
All Shaggin’ on the Cooper and Friday Night Boogie events are held at the foot of the 1250-foot-long pier next to Memorial Waterfront Park, the perfect spot to catch cool breezes, beautiful scenery, and views of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. Beverages are available for purchase on site, and food is available for sale at the Mount Pleasant Pier’s River Watch Café. Food and beverages are not included in ticket prices.
Advance tickets to Shaggin’ on the Cooper or Friday Night Boogie are $8 per person. Space is limited, so advance purchase is recommended. If available, tickets sold on site are $10. To purchase tickets, visit CharlestonCountyParks.com or call 843-795-4386.
