SK8 Charleston to host this year’s Holy City Hullabaloo

[CHARLESTON] – The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s premier skate park, SK8 Charleston, will play host to this year’s Holy City Hullabaloo, a two-day punk and ska music festival held on Sept. 29 and 30.

The Holy City Hullabaloo will showcase over 15 of the best indie punk, ska punk and punk bands from across the nation and here in Charleston. Bands performing include Wilmington, NC-based Madd Hatters, North Charleston-based Hearts on Fire and Tallahassee-based Chilled Monkey Brains. Day one of the festival will be headlined by New York City’s the Toasters, who have been labled as “Ska Pioneers” by Billboard magazine.

The Holy City Hullabaloo will be held at SK8 Charleston on Friday, Sept. 29 from 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. and Satuday, Sept. 30 from 3:45 p.m.-10 p.m. Tickets for the event are $15 for two days or $12 for one day. SK8 Charleston and Gold Pass members are offered a discounted one-day ticket for $10. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at (843) 795-4386, or at SK8 Charleston. Online and phone sales will not be available after midnight the Thursday before the event. Skating will be permited during the event.

Bands performing throughout the event include The Toasters, Counterpunch, Madd Hatters, Sibannac, Control This!, Hale Bopp Astronauts, Hybrid Mutants, Hearts On Fire, Sex Wax, Vorhees, The Prevalent, Hubris and others. SK8 Charleston is located at 1549 Oceanic St. and is open daily, from 2-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $3 per skater/rider and $1 per spectator.
