Last Chance to Dance on the Piers this Summer: Shaggin’ on the Cooper series Finale Sept. 9, Season’s Last Moonlight Mixer Sept. 15
[MOUNT PLEASANT and FOLLY BEACH] – The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission is wrapping up its summertime dance series! The popular Shaggin’ on the Cooper series finale is set for Saturday,Sept. 9 at the Mount Pleasant Pier. The Folly Beach Pier’s Moonlight Mixer season ends Sept. 15.
Shaggin’ on the Cooper will feature live music by The Coppertones on Sept. 9. The Coppertones is a Charleston-based band that has been together since 2003 and plays a variety of hits including shag and beach music.
Gates open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m. Shaggin’ on the Cooper is held at the end of the 1250-foot-long pier next to Memorial Waterfront Park, the perfect spot to catch cool breezes, beautiful scenery, and views of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge.
Held at the end of the Folly Beach Pier, the Moonlight Mixer series features DJ Jim Bowers playing the best beach music and oldies to keep dancers’ feet moving. All ages are invited to celebrate the end of summer with some shagging on the Folly Beach Pier. Event hours are 7 – 11 p.m.
At both Shaggin’ on the Cooper and Moonlight Mixers, beverages are available for purchase on site but are not included in ticket prices. For each event, advance tickets are $8 per person. Space is limited, so advance purchase is recommended. If available, tickets sold at the event are $10.
