[ARCHIVED] Mullet Haul Trail Run set for April 22

[JOHNS ISLAND] – Charleston County Parks invites runners and walkers of all experience levels to the 7th annual Mullet Haul Trail Run. The race features a 5K, 10K and a 10K relay on the trails of Mullet Hall Equestrian Center at Johns Island County Park.

All three races begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22. Afterward, awards will be presented for the top runners, and all participants will be invited to enjoy food and cold beverages. This year’s race will also feature a free kids’ relay race component for ages 3-10.

“Mullet Haul is always a good time, and Johns Island County park is the perfect backdrop for a race with wide open spaces and an expansive trail system,” said Allison Foster, fitness and wellness program manager for Charleston County Parks. “Most make a day of it choosing to stick around and enjoy the venue.”

Johns Island County Park is located at 2662 Mullet Hall Road (off of River Road) on Johns Island. In addition to its equestrian center and newly-opened archery range, the scenic park offers pristine scenery featuring miles of trails winding through southern pines and moss-draped oaks, alongside open meadows and farm fields.

Online registration for the Mullet Haul Trail Run is open now through 3 p.m. on April 21 at CharlestonCountyParks.com/MulletHaul or by calling 843-795-4386. Late registration and packet pickup will be available on site on race day from 7 – 8 a.m.

The Mullet Haul is for ages 10 and older. Participants ages 10-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs and strollers are not allowed at this event. Fees to run the 5K portion of the event are $34 or $28 for residents of Charleston County (day-of registration $34).To run the 10K trail is $44 or $36 respectively (day-of registration $44). The 10K relay is $60 per team, or $50 for residents of Charleston County. Move IT! pass holders receive a 20% discount on Charleston County Resident rates. Charleston County Parks is also encouraging Charleston Healthy Business Challenge members to create two-person teams for participation in the 10K relay.
