Yappy Hour is wrapping up its 2016 series with one final event on Oct. 13. Dog owners are invited to pick up man’s best friend after work and join the happy hour fun at James Island County Park. Yappy Hour features live music and beverages for sale in the off-leash dog park. Music will be provided by Dave Landeo from 4 p.m. to sunset. Best of all, Yappy Hour is free with park admission! Gate admission to James Island County Park is $2 per person or free with the Charleston County Parks Gold Pass.
Then, join us Sunday for a pet-friendly Oktoberfest event at Wannamaker! On Sunday, Oct. 16, Bark in the Park! Oktoberfest brings beer, Bavaria and dogs together at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park.
This event for both people and their pets will offer exhibits, demonstrations, experts, entertainment and more, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Oct. 16. Plus, enjoy an Oktoberfest atmosphere with tasty German dishes and beer, available for sale just outside of the dog park.
Dogs will get great exercise enjoying Wannamaker’s off-leash dog park while their owners enjoy live music in the park by Return of the Mac. Bark in the Park! Oktoberfest will also feature a pet parade (costumes are encouraged), pet contests, and Swift Paws lure chasing, which allows dogs the opportunity to run on a lure race course. Dog-related vendors as well as several non-profit rescue groups will also be on site throughout the event, so pet owners are encouraged to stop by to support these great organizations.
Admission to Bark in the Park! Oktoberfest is $8 per person. Gold Pass Holders and kids 12 and under are free. Click the link below to see a schedule of the contests and entertainment.
See you and your pup at the parks this week!
