Update: Saturday's Dog Day Afternoon is sold out! Tickets still available for Whirlin' Waters' Dog Day Afternoon on Sunday, Sept. 11
[MOUNT PLEASANT AND NORTH CHARLESTON] – Humans have it easy over dogs in the summer – access to beaches, refreshing pools and a lot less hair. For two days only this year, the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) is opening its doors specifically for dogs so they can enjoy the waterparks too.
For the first time, CCPRC’s Dog Day Afternoon will be held on not one, but two days after waterpark season ends! On Saturday, Sept. 10 from 12 – 5 p.m., your pup is invited to take a dip at Splash Island Waterpark at Mount Pleasant Palmetto Islands County Park (SOLD OUT!). Only 300 tickets will be sold for Sept. 10, so advance purchase is recommended!
Not able to take your furry friend to the waterpark on Saturday? Don’t sweat it! On Sunday, Sept. 11 from 12 – 5 p.m., dogs will have free rein of Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark at North Charleston Wannamaker County Park for the park’s 8th Annual Dog Day Afternoon. Advance online tickets to Dog Day Afternoon at Whirlin’ Waters are $15 per dog and Charleston County Residents may purchase advance tickets for $12 per dog. All tickets purchased on site will be $15 and owners are free with their pets. Dog-related vendors will also be on site, as well as several non-profit rescue groups. Pet owners are encouraged to stop by and support these great vendors.
Dogs must be up-to-date on all necessary vaccinations to enter the event at either location. To maximize canine fun, owners will not be allowed to swim or go more than ankle deep in the water at Dog Day Afternoon. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at park concession stands to help humans cool down. While in the park and for the safety of all guests, owners are encouraged to keep their dogs close at hand and in control at all times. Space is limited, so sign up today!
