[JAMES ISLAND] – The Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series continues with its second concert series on Friday, June 24! The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) will host Ras Bonghi Reggae All-Stars at James Island County Park.
Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and music by Ras Bonghi All-Stars begins at 8:30 p.m. Formed in Columbus, Ohio in 1987, Ras Bonghi’s lineup has included members from all over the world. Membership has ranged from Caribbean, African, and American roots. This multicultural influence has given an additional dimension to the band's already distinctive signature style. Since its inception, the band has opened for internationally known acts such as The Wailers, Phil Collins, Yellow Man, Black Uhuru, and Steel Pulse, and have performed in festivals with B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Little Feat, and others.
For the perfect ending to a long week, bring your chair or blanket, kick back, and relax to an awesome outdoor reggae concert in the beautiful setting of James Island County Park. All ages are invited. Hungry concert-goers can purchase food on site at the event. Crafters and other vendors will be on site with souvenirs available for purchase. Advance tickets are not available; admission is $10 per person at the gate. Gold Pass holders and kids 12 and under are free.
Additional reggae concerts will take place on select Fridays throughout the summer at James Island County Park. The 2016 Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series lineup is:
