The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission invites people of the Lowcountry to put on their dancing shoes and get ready for a summer of shagging on the pier! Friday Night Boogie kicks off its season on Friday, May 13, and the popular Shaggin’ on the Cooper returns Saturday, May 14. Both events are held evenings at the Mount Pleasant Pier.
Celebrate the arrival of warmer weather with some dancing! A Friday-night counterpart to the Shaggin’ on the Cooper series, Friday Night Boogie is intended for adults ages 21 and up. Friday Night Boogie will be held on May 13, June 10 and July 15 at the Mount Pleasant Pier. Each event will begin at 7 p.m., and will feature DJ Jim Bowers spinning a variety of unforgettable oldies, beach music classics, and line dancing hits.
Then, the all-ages Shaggin’ on the Cooper returns Saturday, May 14. At Shaggin’ on the Cooper, bands from Charleston and throughout the state will perform at the end of the Mount Pleasant Pier, and the dance floor is open for all ages. Bring a date or meet friends, let loose, breathe in the fresh air and dance the night away. Gates for Shaggin’ on the Cooper open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8 p.m.
All Friday Night Boogie and Shaggin’ on the Cooper events are held at the foot of the 1250-foot-long pier next to Memorial Waterfront Park, the perfect spot to catch cool breezes and beautiful views of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. Beverages are available for purchase on site, and food is available for sale at the Mount Pleasant Pier’s River Watch Café. Food and beverages are not included in ticket prices.
Tickets for each event are $10 per person ($8 in advance for Charleston County residents). Space is limited, so advance purchase is recommended. To purchase advance tickets or for more information on these events, call 843-795-4386 or visit CharlestonCountyParks.com.
