(CHARLESTON COUNTY) – Come get your fresh veggies! The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (CCPRC) invites families throughout the Lowcountry to join in on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) opportunities at select county park locations.
CCPRC’s Be Fit, Charleston! CSA features fresh vegetables from Ambrose Family Farm on Wadmalaw Island. Seasons kick off the week of April 24, and options are available for a six-week season or a 10-week season. Pickup locations will be at three county park locations - James Island, Palmetto Islands, and Wannamaker County Parks – in an effort to make it easy for families to be healthy and eat locally grown produce.
Expected seasonal veggies for Spring 2016 will include: arugula, asparagus, beets, bell pepper, blackberries, blueberries, bok choy, broccoli, broccoli rabe, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, cut flowers, garlic, green beans, lettuce mixes, lettuces, Pete's sweet onions, potatoes, scallion onions, spinach, squash, strawberries, sweet corn, sweet peas, tat soy, and/or zucchini. Fees to participate vary based on quantity and length of season. To sign up for the CSA, visit http://www.stonofarmmarket.com/befitcsa.html or CharlestonCountyParks.com/Be-Fit-CSA.
