[ARCHIVED] Mullet Haul Trail Run returns Saturday, April 23 with new distances

[JOHNS ISLAND] –Join Charleston County Parks at the revamped Mullet Haul Trail Run on April 23! The 5th annual race now features a 5K, 10K and a 10K relay on the trails of Mullet Hall Equestrian Center on Johns Island.

All three races begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. Afterward, awards will be presented for the top runners, and all participants will be invited to enjoy food and cold beverages. This year’s race will also feature a free kids’ relay race component for ages 3-10.

Traditionally open for horse owners, trail riding and equestrian events, Mullet Hall Equestrian Center is located at 2662 Mullet Hall Road (off of River Road) on Johns Island. The scenic park offers pristine scenery featuring 20 miles of trails winding through southern pines and moss-draped oaks, alongside open meadows and farm fields.

Online registration for the Mullet Haul Trail Run is open now through 3 p.m. on April 22 at CharlestonCountyParks.com/MulletHaul or by calling 843-795-4386. Late registration and packet pickup will be available on site (if available) on race day from 7 – 8 a.m.

The Mullet Haul is for ages 10 and older. Participants ages 10-15 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs and strollers are not allowed at this event. Fees to run the 5K portion of the event are $34 or $28 for residents of Charleston County (day-of registration $34).To run the 10K trail will be $44 or $36 respectively (day-of registration $44). The 10K relay will be $60 per team, or $50 for residents of Charleston County. Move IT! pass holders receive a 20% discount on Charleston County Resident rates. Mullet Haul will serve as the kickoff event for the Fit Family Challenge. Charleston County Parks partnered with the Fit Family Challenge, an eight-week healthy lifestyle program for families. The challenge is free and offers a mobile-friendly activity tracker, community exercise classes, expert fitness advice and nutrition tips for families. Participating families can register online or at the Mullet Haul, and track activities to earn points to win prizes.
