Heart for Service, Passion for Parks

Volunteers play a vital role in bringing Charleston County Parks and Recreation programs, events, and spaces to life. Whether you are looking to give back, meet new people, enjoy unique experiences in your county parks, or become more connected to your community, volunteering is a meaningful way to get involved. We are always excited to welcome new volunteers and offer opportunities to serve, enjoy volunteer appreciation events, and earn a reciprocal pass to participating area attractions when you complete more than 35 hours of service each year.

Holiday Festival of Lights Volunteer Magic!

"Hi there, On Monday November 17, a few volunteers from Church Coastal Community brought some folks from Joseph Floyd Manor and Brighton Place to the Holiday lights. Both places are low income housing with mostly Senior and disabled folks who reside there. They were completely blown away by the park, not just the lights, and none of the 15 people had ever been to the park at any time! Your staff was very accommodating, even letting us enter and park early so our folks could go to the bathroom. We go through the lights every year, however seeing them through the eyes of a first timer is very heartwarming. Keep up the great work. Thank you."
