David learned to swim at Danny Jones Pool in North Charleston, where he later joined the summer league swim team and set a city meet breaststroke record at age 12. He went on to swim year-round with the Charleston Swim Association and competed collegiately at the College of Charleston. As an adult, David has competed locally, regionally, and nationally with the Palmetto Masters Swim Team, earning state age-group records, national rankings, and top-ten finishes at Short Course Masters Nationals. Swimming has also supported his participation in triathlons, open water swims, and road races. David served 11 years as a CCAA official and has been a USA Swimming official for 13 years with the City of Charleston Southern Marlins Racing Team (SMRT). He is also the assistant swim coach for the James Island Charter High School Trojans. His goal is to help swimmers enjoy the sport while building lifelong fitness and healthy habits.
