The Climbing Wall
The Climbing Wall at James Island County Park is one of the Lowcountry’s premier outdoor climbing destinations. This facility features more than 6,000 square feet of climbing surface with a 50-foot structure featuring 16 stations including top ropes, 10 auto-belays, and six lead climbing routes and two dedicated bouldering areas—one reaching 13 feet. Designed for all skill levels, the wall offers challenges for beginners and experienced climbers alike. Knowledgeable staff are on hand to ensure safety and provide guidance, while the on-site Rock Shop carries quality gear and essentials for your climb and comfort.

Climbing is available by reservation and by walk-up, if space allows. Should the Climbing Wall close due to weather, we will contact those with reservations.
- January - February: Monday-Friday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- March - October: Monday-Friday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- November & December: Monday-Friday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Wall is open Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. Inclement weather and some park events may cause additional closures.

Daily Admission

All climbers must have a current year Activity Waiver, and climbers under age 18 must have it completed by a parent or legal guardian. All belayers must have a valid CCPRC Belay Card or pass our belay test in order to belay. Belayers must be at least 14 years old unless participating in a CCPRC instructional program.
Annual Passes
Passes are non-transferable photo IDs that offer free climbing at the Climbing Wall and free entrance into James Island County Park for either one year or one month from date of issue.
- Purchase Annual Climbing Pass: $450 + tax
- Purchase Auto-Renewing Monthly Climbing Pass: $45 per month + tax.
Youth 12 & under and seniors 60+ receive a 20% discount on annual and monthly pass that will be applied in cart. Pass must be presented to be scanned for admission; receipt of purchase is not valid for entry.

Climbing is physically strenuous and carries inherent risks that may result in serious injury or death. Participants with health concerns should consult a physician before climbing.
- All climbers must check in, read posted signage, and follow all facility rules and staff instructions.
- All climbers must complete a current-year Activity Waiver; minors (under 18) must have a parent or legal guardian sign.
- No climbing or equipment use while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Pets must be kept on a leash, cleaned up after, and under control at all times. For their safety, pets may not be left in vehicles.
- Climbers 14 and older must complete a staff-led orientation before using the auto belay system.
- Climbers 13 and under must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
- To top-rope belay, lead belay, or lead climb, participants must be age 14 and older and pass a skills test at check-in administered by a qualified staff member.
- Climbers are responsible for inspecting their own gear and must use climbing gear per manufacturer's guidelines. All gear is subject to staff approval prior to use.
- Lead ropes must be at least 9.5 mm and 40 m.
- Appropriate attire is required. Shirts and closed-toe shoes must be worn; “five-finger” shoes are not permitted. Please remove all rental gear prior to using the restroom.
- Only qualified staff may provide belay or safety instruction. Unauthorized coaching or commercial use is prohibited.
- No running, swinging on ropes, or horseplay. Stay clear of climbing areas when not climbing or belaying. Do not walk between a belayer and the wall.
- Keep all items away from fall zones and do not sit or lie on mats.
- Stop climbing at the last hold.
- Bouldering is allowed only in approved areas, below 13 feet. Do not climb above or below other climbers.
- Do not touch quickdraws while climbing on auto belays.
- The training area is for climbers 14 and older.
- CCPRC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
- Unruly conduct, vulgar language, or failure to follow rules or staff instructions may result in removal from the facility.

Step 1: Book Your Time Slot and Sign Our Activity Waiver

Step 3: Your Visit!
Our expert staff are here to help guide you during your two-hour visit! For beginners, we recommend using one of our 11 auto-belay stations. For the more advanced climber who has a valid CCPRC Belay Card, we have 5 top rope and 6 lead climbing stations.

The Climbing Wall at James Island County Park is available to host exciting group events! Birthday parties, school outings, scouts events, church picnics, and youth groups will have a blast climbing with us. To request more information or to schedule your party, call 843-795-4386. Reservations are recommended at least two weeks in advance. If your desired party date is within two weeks or you are requesting a different time slot, please submit this party interest form.
Standard Party Package - $255
- Admission for up to ten climbers (including the guest of honor)
- $20 for each additional climber
- Climbing for two hours
- An experienced staff member for two hours (a second staff member will be provided at no additional charge for groups over 10)
- Harnesses and climbing equipment included
- One Gallon of Lemonade
- One Gallon of Water
- Cups, plates, and napkins
- One 16-in pizza can be added for $15 each (choice of cheese or pepperoni)

- Monday - Friday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 3-5 p.m.
- Saturday: 1-3 p.m., 3-5 p.m.
- Sunday: 9-11 a.m., 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 3-5 p.m.
Bring Your Own Cake!
- With the party package, groups may bring their own cake to celebrate a special occasion.
- The group will need to provide candles, lighters and utensils. Cold storage will not be available
Additional Details
An Activity Waiver must be completed by each participant or their parent (if under 18) in order to participate. Each group should bring 1 adult chaperone for every 5 climbers. There is no charge for group chaperones. Climbers should wear a closed-toe shoe like a tennis shoe. Sandals are not permitted. Climbing shoe rentals are available at the wall.
Cancellation Policy
There is a 50% cancellation fee for all reservation cancellations. If the Wall staff cancels your reservation due to weather, you can reschedule for a different date. No refunds will be given to those who do not show up for their rental.
