Compass Course

Come hone your survival skills and sense of direction on the Compass Course at Laurel Hill County Park, a great spot to learn and practice how to use a compass for navigation while enjoying the beauty and nature of the park. Participants should keep in mind that this is an outdoor activity, so be prepared by checking the weather forecast before heading out. It's also important to have adequate hydration, sun protection, and insect repellent. Always watch out for wildlife.

Orienteering

The Compass Course also offers the opportunity to learn the necessary skills important to competitive orienteering, an increasingly popular sport.

“Orienteering is a competitive form of land navigation. The activity is for all ages and degrees of fitness and skill. It provides the suspense and excitement of a treasure hunt. The object of orienteering is to locate control points by using a map and compass to navigate through the woods.”  - 4orienteering.com
