[MOUNT PLEASANT] - Charleston County Parks is excited to introduce a new race at beautiful Laurel Hill County Park this November! On Saturday, Nov. 7, the Shake Your Trail Feathers race will debut at the Mount Pleasant park, offering a 5K, a 10K and a Kids Dash.
This festive race will mix high-energy fall fun with off-road adventure. Runners will weave through wooded paths and dirt trails, while kicking up some leaves. Costumes are encouraged on the course, and runners will enjoy a finish line celebration featuring music and fall-themed treats. Plus, runners will enjoy beautiful views throughout the park, including moss-draped oaks and peaceful views.
Winners of the race will take home the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast, and all finishers will receive a commemorative medal!
The 5K and 10K will kick off at 9 a.m. Prior to the race, at 8:45 a.m., children of all ages are invited to take part in an untimed Kids Dash across the finish line (parent or guardian must be present). Registration is required for all races, and includes finisher medals.
Registration is only available in advance at CharlestonCountyParks.com (direct link) and ends on Wednesday, Nov. 4. On-site registration is not available.
The course features trails of a natural, unimproved surface. The course is a loop course that offers occasional areas of uneven terrain and varies from hard-packed trails with roots to grass. Strollers are not recommended, and pets are not permitted on the race course. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottle.
This race is open to runners and walkers of all levels, including beginners. Participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. No accessible parking is available. An accessible port-a-let is available at the event site.
Laurel Hill County Park is located between Highway 17N and Highway 41 in Mount Pleasant. For the race, attendees must enter through the special event entrance location at 1400 Highway 41. Access through Park West will not be permitted for this event.
