Starfish Swim Lessons
Build confidence, skills, and safety in the water with our Starfish Swim Lessons, led by Starfish Swim School certified instructors. Each course is designed to meet swimmers where they are, using engaging, age-appropriate activities in a supportive, small-group environment. Across all age groups, our goal is to help every swimmer feel safe, capable, and confident in and around the water.
Swim lessons will take place in June and July at the West County Aquatic Center, with sessions priced at $45 per participant.
Ages 3–5
Young swimmers are introduced to the water through fun, creative activities that build comfort and readiness. Participants begin developing essential water safety skills and foundational swim abilities, progressing at their own pace toward key milestones.
Ages 6–9
Swimmers focus on strengthening water safety awareness and core swimming skills through structured, age-appropriate lessons. Instruction is self-paced yet appropriately challenging, helping each child grow in confidence and ability.
Ages 10–12
Older participants continue to refine water safety skills and swim techniques in a supportive, goal-oriented setting. Lessons are tailored to encourage independence, skill development, and steady progression.

Swim lesson scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the Charleston County Parks Foundation. Scholarships are awarded based on swim lesson availability. Each recipient will receive a $40 credit toward one $45 swim session (six lessons per session) for the 2026 season, with a remaining $5 balance due. Once approved, applicants will receive a confirmation email with their assigned lesson dates and times.
Our goal is to support families who are committed to building strong water safety skills and confidence in and around the water. When applying, please consider your availability and your ability to attend the scheduled lessons.
Participants who attend at least 50% of their lessons will be eligible for early enrollment in next year’s swim season. Additional incentives may be offered based on participation, including passes to the Holiday Festival of Lights.
