Camp Guidelines & Policies

Registration Information

Advance registration is required for all camp programs, and many fill up quickly. Please register early! An Activity Waiver must be completed for each child. Camps may be combined or cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met by two weeks prior to start date. Full payment is required at time of registration.

Cancellation Policy

  • Registrants will receive a full refund if the camp session is cancelled by CCPRC.
  • Registrants withdrawing prior to the start of the camp session will receive a 50% refund.
  • All participant withdrawals must be received during regular business hours.

Discipline Policy

For the safety and well-being of all campers, children who are unable to behave appropriately, after repeated attempts of corrective actions, may be removed from camp and no refund will be issued. As a parent/guardian and camper, please read and follow Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission’s Camp Code of Conduct.

Age Requirement

Your child must be within the camp age requirement by the first day of the session in which they are registered. Failure to accurately represent your child’s age is grounds for immediate dismissal from camp without refund.

Additional Information After Registration

An email will be sent in May to all current registrants including pertinent parent information and camp packing list.  Additionally, a weekly reminder will be sent prior to the start of your camp session.

Special Needs

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to utilize county park facilities and to register for recreation programs. Reasonable accommodations will be made on an individual basis. During registration, please answer “YES” on the Modification prompt, and the Camp Director will contact you to discuss your needed accommodations. Please feel free to contact the Camp Director prior to registration with any questions or concerns. Please allow at least two weeks’ notice to request accommodations.

Weather & Environment

Camp activities are held in outdoor settings. In general, these activities will be held rain or shine. Please plan accordingly and be prepared for anticipated conditions. CCPRC maintains the right to change or modify any program due to weather or environmental concerns.

Risk

All outdoor activities, including those offered by CCPRC, have inherent risks which include personal injury or property loss. In addition, there is a necessary level of physical health required. Prior to registration, a waiver is required in which you acknowledge, understand and accept these risks (parents/guardians must sign for youth 17 and under) and waiving your rights for claims of negligence.

Transportation

Our Adventure Camp, Teen Venture Camp, and Junior Lifeguard Programs require transportation for scheduled activities. We use 14-passenger buses and passenger vans that are driven by our trained Camp Staff. Staff will only transport their assigned campers.

Hours

  • Drop-off: 8:30-9:00 a.m.
  • Pick-up: 4:30-5:00 p.m. A $15 penalty fee will be added to your account for every 15 minutes your camper is left after 5:00 p.m.
  • Several Adventure and Teen Venture Camps have overnight components, and Teen Venture Camp ranges from 1-3 nights on sleep-away trips.
