The weather is hot and so is pier fishing!! We weighed over a hundred fish during Folly Pier's June tournament. This week has provided prime conditions for spade fish, whiting, blues, black drum, sea trout, sheepshead, and even the elusive flounder. Both frozen and live shrimp has been the bait of choice for most species, while fiddlers are the choice for targeting sheepshead. A moderate wind from the south has not only brought a breeze from the heat, but has also blown in plenty of clean water. All forecast look promising, as the wind direction is suppose to hold for at least the rest of the week.
June 20th's Cast-Off Fishing Tournament was an exciting one as the leader board changed often.
Congratulations to those that finished on the board:
Big Fish 1: Julie Pigeon with a 4 lb. 2.88 oz. black drum
Big Fish 2: Ross Moody with a 3 lb. 1.92 oz. black drum
Big Fish 3: Rich Pigeon with a 2 lb. 14.72 oz. black drum
Youth: Liam Shealy (3 yrs. old) with a 0 lb. 9.60 oz. spade fish
