Laurel Hill Closed

Laurel Hill County Park is closed for tree thinning, a practice that will create a healthier forest. Tree removal will take several weeks, and the timeline for the closure is very much weather dependent.

We will attempt to open some or all trails for weekend use during the project. During this closure, visitors may enjoy the trails of Palmetto Islands County Park just up the road from Laurel Hill in Mount Pleasant.

Laurel Hill County Park is leased to Charleston County Parks for the enjoyment of our communities. As part of our lease agreement, the trustee for the property has timber harvesting rights to the property. Land management professionals have identified that Laurel Hill County Park is currently in need of tree thinning, a process that will reduce the volume of wood to healthier levels and will benefit both people and wildlife.

Charleston County Parks has ensured that the contractor will be sensitive to the public and historic nature of the property. For your safety, please respect the trail closures. Cameras are in use on the property.
