Whether you're looking for saltwater, brackish, surf or deeper ocean fishing, we have a variety of fishing spots in many of our Charleston County Parks. Go for the big catch at one of our two fishing piers, fish surfside at our beach parks, or relax by the calmer waters of one of our day parks. There's something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned angler or just starting to learn the sport!

Folly Beach Fishing Pier

Park Information & Directions

Admission & Amenities

  • Daily pier fishing passes are available for purchase at the Gangplank Gift & Tackle Shop. See our Folly Beach Pier page for our daily fishing fees.
  • Rod rentals, fishing line and bait are available for purchase.
  • 3 fishing drop nets are available for public use (located at each sun shelter and on the diamond of the pier). 
  • 1,045 ft long pier with access to depths varying from 1 to 25 ft. 
  • Ice cream and snacks are available for purchase.
  • Accessible route to fishing access.
  • Accessible parking and restrooms.

Fishing Rules

  • A valid daily fishing pass must be purchased from the gift shop and be visible at all times.
  • No fishing is allowed from the pier after sunset.
  • Rods must be supervised and must be fished from one fishing station or rod holder. Two rods per person will be allowed.
  • Do not leave your cooler or equipment in another fishing station.
  • Inhumane handling of wildlife will not be tolerated.
  • Release all fish or rays if they are not to be consumed. 
  • All size and catch limits must be followed per SCDNR regulations.

Mount Pleasant Pier

  • Tackle sales and rod rentals are available for purchase.
  • Made-to-order sandwiches, ice cream, and fruit smoothies are available for purchase.
  • 1,250 ft long pier with access to depths varying from 1 to 11 ft. 
  • Covered pavilion.

Fishing Rules

  • A valid daily fishing pass must be purchased from the Riverwatch Café and be visible at all times.
  • Fishing is available only from the pier itself.
  • Fishing may be done by rod and reel or with a cast net for bait. All other forms of fishing are prohibited. Rods must be supervised and fished from one area or rod holder. Limit of 2 fishing rods per person.
  • Crabbing is permitted with 2 lines or small traps per person. Commercial crab traps are prohibited.
  • Do not leave your cooler or equipment in another fishing station.
  • Inhumane handling of wildlife will not be tolerated.
  • Release all fish or rays if they are not to be consumed.
  • All size and catch limits must be followed per SCDNR regulations.
  • Shark fishing is prohibited. Any sharks caught accidentally must be released.

Folly Beach County Park

Isle of Palms County Park

  • Fishing is available at the main lake at Wannamaker County Park (shore fishing) with access to depths up to 14 ft. 
  • Visitors are welcome to use their own fishing equipment (rod rentals, tackle sales and nets are not available).
