2010 Summer Day Camps

| Explorers Camp (ages 6-9) Explorers Camp introduces youngsters to the joys and beauty of our natural world. Spend your days exploring and learning about the Lowcountry environment, doing arts and crafts, and playing cooperative games. These sessions introduce participants to the wonders of nature while building physical and social skills and providing recreational fun. There is an 8:1 camper-to-staff ratio with sessions limited to 16 campers at Wannamaker, 32 campers at Palmetto Islands, and 48 campers at James Island. |

- Different educational theme each week
- Weekly cookout

| Environmental Activities |
- Hands-on and experientially-based activities allow campers to gain a more personal view of nature
- Catch and release a crab, turtle, or insects
- Learn about some of the plants and wildlife throughout the park
- Weekly theme-based education sessions with naturalists from Caw Caw Interpretive Center and other local programs

| Adventure |
- Canoeing and/or pedal boating
- Crabbing or fishing
- Trips to Whirlin’ Waters, Splash Island, or Splash Zone
- Nature discovery treks around the park

| Arts & Crafts |
- Theme-related arts and crafts projects
- Each week will have new and interesting projects

| Games |
- Cooperative and fun games that encourage and promote positive self-image and social interactions

| Explorer Camp sessions are held at James Island County Park, Mount Pleasant Palmetto Islands County Park, and North Charleston Wannamaker County Park. |
| *Charleston County residents contribute to the development of our county park system through property taxes, therefore a discounted rate is available to them. |
