The nearly 19-year-old Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier will undergo maintenance to help increase the life of the landmark pier. The repairs require portions of the pier, including its diamond head, to be occasionally sectioned off until the project’s completion. Most of the main walkway of the Folly Beach Fishing Pier will remain open and operational for normal public use, including fishing and walking. Regular operations and fishing tournaments will continue as scheduled for 2014. However, until the project is complete, the Moonlight Mixers dance series, which takes place exclusively on the diamond head of the pier, will be suspended.
Former mixer attendees are invited to Shaggin’ on the Cooper
at the Mount Pleasant Pier. In addition to that popular dance series, we have added a new event to the Mount Pleasant Pier lineup for those 21 and up, Thursday Night Boogie
. Like the Mixers, Thursday Night Boogie will feature music from DJ Jim Bowers, shag dancing, and beverages and food for sale.
