Park Planning

Charleston County’s parks and recreation programs enrich our lives both physically and mentally, and are a vital component of our community’s quality of life.  Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s Planning and Development Division is responsible for:

• Providing plans and designs for Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission parks and facilities that protect park resources and provide for appropriate public use and enjoyment of parklands and facilities.
• Participating in state and regional activities that affect parks, recreation, and natural resources.
• Acquiring land for park and recreation purposes and managing those areas.
• Providing a vision for parks, recreation programs, and open space.
