Ron Burgundy Media Challenge
Started by the Germans in 1904, the Ron Burgundy Media Challenge invites all media outlets to put down the pen and pad in order to compete in a free, most-holds-barred outdoor race. Dress as your favorite character (or not) in order to paddle, bike, climb, and shoot your way to victory. Take your place on top of the media mountain with your 4-person team. No experience necessary. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed and Best Time. Winning the Ron Burgundy Challenge can increase your ratings. They’ve done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time it works every time.

Palmetto Pump & USA Climbing Competition

Join us for the Palmetto Pump and USA Climbing Competition. Come out to the Climbing Wall at James Island County Park on April 18 for a nationally-sanctioned event that will host 70+ climbers from around the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US. This year's event will be a Flash Format. Compete or just cheer for your local team!

East Coast Outdoor Fest Island Toss
The annual East Coast Outdoor Fest Island Toss is a fun tournament and a great way to experience our 18-hole disc golf course with fellow enthusiasts. There is a category for every skill level and age. The course winds through classic lowcountry scenery of Palmettos, Live Oaks and a gorgeous marsh view at the turn. All non-Professional players will receive a player pack while Professional competitors will be competing for cash prizes. This is a PDGA and SCDGO sanctioned event.

Tag Team Paddle Adventure
This fun event pairs a youth participant with a professional paddling instructor for a fun, water-based race against other dynamic duos. Kids get to enjoy the excitement of competition and combine it with quality time with a paddling professional. Learn how to properly size water-craft, paddles and safety gear before getting on the water and racing for the finish with your professional paddling partner!

BIC One Design SUP Challenge
A friendly competition, the BIC One Design challenge is the stock-car of stand-up paddlboard racing. Partnering with the BIC SUP, Charleston County Parks provides identical SUPs for all participants in order to keep the competition about the paddler and not the technology. Competitors, though, may use their own paddles. Participants will navigate their way around buoys on the sparkling lake at James Island County Park before top finishers are crowned in several divisions.

King of the Hill Mountain Bike Race
Do you like your bicycle tires fat and knobby? If so, the King of the Hill short track race is for you! Short track racing is spectator friendly, fast-paced and great fun for the beginner and seasoned biker alike. The course is approximately 1-mile in length and features a mix of grass, pavement and classic single-track. Racers have 25 minutes to complete as many laps as possible. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

Bodhi’s Revenge SUP Race
Bodhi's Revenge is the Charleston area’s only SUP surf slalom and Battle of the Paddle style event. Presented by Half-Moon Outfitters and Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission, this watersport adventure comes to Folly Beach, South Carolina on April 19. This event is in conjunction with the East Coast Paddlesports & Outdoor Festival. Bodhi's Revenge will appeal to intermediate and advanced paddlers as well as spectators. A unique surf-style race to the area, the race features a slalom surf course with buoy turns. The Johnny Utah Course will featured two loops with one beach sprint in between while The Bodhi Course will feature 4 loops with three beach sprints in between. Both will finish with a 50 yard straight beach sprint to finish line. Bodhi's Revenge will benefit the Surfrider Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation activism, research and education (C.A.R.E.).

19th Annual Sink & Swim Cardboard Canoe Race
With nothing but tape, decorations, and imagination kids can design and build their own functional boat out of cardboard. Their creation will be captained by a member of their team and tested on the shimmering lake at James Island County Park. Prizes and awards will be given for all participants in this wacky event! All materials and gear provided. Kids may register as individuals or a group.
