Summer Camps 2014

Adventure awaits in the Summer Camp programs offered by your Charleston County parks! Our younger campers will enjoy the hands-on fun of Explorers Camp and Odyssey Camp, while older youth can explore a diverse assortment of outdoor activities at Adventure Camp, Teen Venture Camp, Sailing Camp, and our Junior Lifeguard Program. Designed to challenge, entertain, and inspire, our summer programs focus on developing physical, social, and decision-making skills while promoting self-confidence, environmental awareness, and, plenty of fun. We are committed to providing a positive and supportive summer experience for your child and you; come out and play with us!
Camps also promote self-confidence and environmental awareness, with a commitment to providing a positive, supportive, and fun camp experience for you and your child.
Staff
Our staff is a carefully selected group of highly qualified individuals who are passionate about working with youth in a camp environment. Staff members are trained to assist in the development of self-confidence, cooperation, personal growth, and environmental awareness.

Collectively, the staff can confidently provide instruction and facilitation in:
  • Arts and craft projects
  • Canoeing
  • Challenge course facilitation
  • Environmental education
  • Group games
  • Kayaking
  • Leave No Trace principles
  • Lifeguarding
  • Mountain biking
  • Rock climbing
  • Stand-up paddle boarding
Small group sizes allow counselors to provide individual attention in a group setting. All our staff are certified in first aid and CPR. Additionally, adventure and teen venture counselors are certified in wilderness first aid or wilderness first responder, while junior lifeguard counselors have Red Cross lifeguard training. The emotional and physical well-being of our campers is our top priority.

Scholarships
Full and partial scholarships for select camps are available. Scholarships will be awarded based on economic need and will be evaluated on an individual basis. Applications will be accepted January 1, 2014 to March 28, 2014 and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. If an applicant has been awarded a scholarship and space is not available for any of the selected sessions, the applicant will be placed on the shortest waiting list of the selected sessions.
