Lifeguard Training

The following public agencies offer American Red Cross lifeguard training programs in Charleston County:
City of Charleston
The 2-week lifeguard training classes are held the first Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday of February, March, April, May, and October, 2010 at W.L. Stephens Aquatic Center.
Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission
Learn more about the extensive education, training, and experience of Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission’s Safety and Aquatic Programs. The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission offers both lifeguard training for ages 16 and up and a junior lifeguard training program for ages 10-16.
Mount Pleasant Recreation Department
The lifeguard training course teaches individuals advanced rescue skills, how to prevent aquatic emergencies, and the proper conduct expected of a professional lifeguard. Training is for ages 15 and up at 2 pools at various times throughout the year.
North Charleston Recreation Department
The Lifeguarding program provides the skills and knowledge necessary to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around the water. The program includes a lifeguard training course with aquatic-specific first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. Lifeguard Training is offered for ages 15 and up.
St. Andrews Family Fitness Plus
St. Andrews offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, with course content and activities that prepare candidates to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries.
